Llamas ETC        Llama 4H
The Hummers
Ownership of a llama is not necessary. All members adopt a llama to groom and train in showmanship, pack and obstacles.
Hummers dressed up in the panchos and matching llama blankets which they made. Christmas Parade 2000.
Grooming includes: desensitizing, brushing, blowing, trimming nails and general show readiness.
Obstacles include:
stairs, ramps, water, over and under obstacles, walking backwards, fan blowing streamers, tunnel, getting in and out of a vehicle, cushing and possibly others.
We use the Llama Youth Manual prepared by the Rocky Mountain Llama & Alpaca Assn. It is available form the RMLAA, 303-273-9445 and cost $3 the last time we purchased them! It is really informative.
You must be 11 years (6th grade) or older to be a member of this group.  Future projects will include packing and carting llamas.
