Llamas ETC - Wool is valuable  

Llama wool is very valuable. They are sheared every two years. Special FX (Effie) is a fine wooled llama. It is much harder to keep this kind clean!  If what you really want is a pet llama, you may be happier with a North American pack type llama. We have several of them and they are a joy to own AND they are practical.

Llama wool sells for $2 - $4 per ounce when spun.

Llamas are sheared approximately every two years. This varies slightly due to climate, the weather any given summer, and the llamas fiber growth rate.
