I am in the process of forming an organization whose purpose is to accumulate a data base
on all parent education classes throughout the state by location, content of material,
creating a 1-800 # and a public relations/marketing plan to make that information easily
accessible. I need to know if I am reinventing the wheel. Please contact me at [email protected] with any help or comments.

I am working on a Job Description patterned somewhat after that provided by Lisa B. to the
MPCB staff at our last training. Am wondering if others have developed a working agreement
between CMHA or other such agency and the MPCB specifying how much time is being
"donated" to the MPCB, and how that time is to be supervised. Please email any
information you may have on this at [email protected]
thanks!

Does anyone know of a funding source for a community-based latchkey program? If so, please
advise. Thanks

To those interested in latchkey programming funds--you may wish to contact Marianne Kugler, Ph.D. at the Mott Foundation. A new round of their large-scale national initiative on after school programming will be rolled out early next year. Her office can be reached at 810/238-5651.

Has anyone developed criteria to determine if an interagency group should be a workgroup
of the mpcb? We are going to discuss this at our mpcb meeting on Jan. 4th. Please send
responses to Krista Hausermann, [email protected].
I am an mpcb coordinator. Thanks.

Twice a year, we hold an event called "Let's Talk." It is a 2-3 hour session
that builds relationships between Pastors and Human/Community Service providers. For our
April session, we would like to do a small panel discussing the real and imagined barriers
of the separation of "church and state" in regards to community
development/collaboration. We would like a couple people from outside Montcalm County
(pastor and human service staff) to discuss positive relationships and efforts based on
such collaboration. I know there are many efforts in the Holland/Muskegon area. I would
like to invite anyone to give me names of people you think would be good examples and
would be willing and able to come to Montcalm County to share their experiences. Thanks
for your assistance.

With the new restrictions on SF/SC dollars we are finding that the funding consumer
involvement within the Administrative line item is cut drastically this year. With
consumer involvement being so important we are looking for any other funding sources. We
are also working on a countywide Workplace/ Home Visitors Safety workgroup, if anyone has
one within their county we like to know what type of activities that have been sponsored
or are being planned. If you have any information, ideas, or suggestions on these topics.
Please contact me [email protected] or at

transit is an integral part of all transportation planning and funding.
If you are interested, please e-mail the Coalition at

More information will be provided to those who respond.
I am curious about what new and innovative school-based drug and alcohol prevention programs (education and others) are finding success among middle and high school students. Please respond to [email protected]

Gogebic County has formed a workgroup which is targeting the prevention of Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome & Fetal Alcohol Effects as its focus. Please respond if you have information
on efforts which have been effective in reducing the incidence of FAS/FAE, particularly
those efforts which have a community based focus as opposed to a school based emphasis.
Thanks!

I am looking for any local, state, national, international, interplanetary-<whoops>,
models of community-based recreation. Am looking for "paradigms"; and any
conceptual definitions, e.g., mission statements, key objectives, parameters and action
steps to develop would be appreciated. Of particular help would be examples of
"reporting tools" about community recreational needs assessments and assets.
E-mail as noted above, or send to Pam Zappala, GIRESD, PO310, Ithaca, MI 48847.

With funding from SF/SC and the County Commission, Roscommon County completed a recreation
plan through MSU in the past year. The outcome of that effort is a county and township
supported Recreation Plan/Program. I think that the technical assistance from MSU was not
just on process but specific to community recreation development. Contacting the new
County Recreation Coordinator, Steve Patterson 517.275.5043, might be of some value.
This is a follow-up on Mary's "Blueprints for Violence Prevention" information projects. Center for the study and prevention of violence is offering funding for more than 50 sites nationwide for training and technical assistance for the 10 programs they research-based endorse. Please see www.colorado.edu/cspv/blueprints for more information or to get an information/application packet. Or call (303) 443-3297.

I am wondering if anyone out there, who may also work with and for the CMH board, has
specific ideas on strategic planning methods which work, and people who might be hired as
consultants to do such strategic planning for boards. Also, is anyone aware of a CMH using
paid consumers as "consumer navigators"; someone who helps new consumers find
their way through the maze of services (and obstacles to service). I think this is also
sometimes called an ombudsman position; I am looking for places where consumers themselves
are in this position. Please let me know any ideas you may have. Thanks
