The Wednesday, March 5, 1997 meeting of the Hamlin Township Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 PM by Chairperson M. McCarthy who then led the pledge to the flag.

Roll Call:

Members Present: M. McCarthy, B. Matthews, R.A. Petersen, M. Rodriguez, J. Voelker

Members Absent: W. Abrahamson, C. Miller

Others Present: R. Rodriguez, E. Chmielewski, S. Armstrong, B. Janecyk, P. Wolf, R.Wolf, F. Tibbot, B. Beckstrom

The minutes of the 1/8/97 Planning Commission Meeting/Public Hearing were amended as follows: #7 - exclude the dialog up to the correspondence and accept the two audio tapes of the meeting, on the motion of J. Voelker, supported by B. Matthews. All members were in favor. Motion carried.

Special Land Use Hearing:

Mr. Bob Janecyk has filed an application with the Hamlin Township Planning Commission for a special land use on the following property: Property number 53-007-002-124-00, described as part of govt lot 7 com 393 ½ ft. N on ¼ line of SE cor of said lot TH S 89 deg W 211.1 ft. N 4 deg E 639.5 ft. M/L to W/E of Hamlin Lake, TH NE'ly alg shore to N/L ¼ line TH S on ¼ line 720 ft. M/L to beg Sec 2 T19N R18W.

The request if granted would permit the applicant to use the above property in the following manner: Bob Janecyk is applying for a Special Land Use under Sec 9.03 Sub Section E of Zoning Ordinance Number 34, so that he may be allowed to add 261 sq.ft. of living space to a small cottage located on his resort.

Correspondence:

Correspondence was received from Harvey Storm, Fred Sternquist, Fred Tibbott, and Erma Gray, all in support of Mr. Janecyk's request. Randy Wolf, neighbor was present to voice his approval.

Motion:

Motion made by B. Matthews to grant the special land use and limit the size to 700 sq.ft. per cottage, supported by R.A. Petersen. Vote was unanimous - motion carried.

Old Business:

Junk vehicles can be dealt with through the existing township ordinance because the township adopted the BOCA Maintenance code, which covers this.

New Business:

Planned Unit Developments (PUD)- Article 20 - questions concerning the calculation of density (ref. pg. 20 - Table 2D was discussed. A letter from Roger Anderson clarifies that the open space should be subtracted before the multiple is used. Motion by B. Matthews to accept this clarification, supported by M.Rodriguez. All in favor - Motion carried.

Funneling information received from Progressive Engineering will be kept on file for a future meeting.

A discussion of reviewing garage size requirements due to larger homes, and architect design standards. The issue will be taken up in the future.

There being no further business at hand a motion to adjourn was made by R.A. Petersen, supported by M. Rodriguez. All in favor - motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.

The next meeting of the Hamlin Township Planning Commission will be held on April 2, 1997 at 7:30.
