The minutes of the 4/2/97 Planning Commission Meeting/Land Use Hearing were accepted on the motion of M. Rodriguez supported by C. Miller. All members were in favor. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
Two letters were received regarding the Dark Sky ordinance under consideration. Ruldolph and Winona Anderson, and Erna Sinn opposing any restriction of yard lights; Richard and Ruth James opposed to the abolishing of yard lights. Copies of the letters are attached.
Old Business:
Dark Sky Ordinance - B. Matthews presented a copy the city of Petosky ordinance and the Tucson, AZ ordinance for review, in addition to information from The International Dark Sky Association. The issues were discussed. M. McCarthy to contact REA for additional information on lights and lighting. The Board agreed to review the literature for consideration at a future meeting.
Adult Businesses - reviewed the letter by Roger Anderson regarding the overly restrictive amendments made at the last meeting and revisited the request of the Hamlin Township Board to designate the setback requirements to 300' from the road and 1,000 ft. from a residence etc. and apply this to agricultural, commercial and industrial districts.
Adult Businesses - Article 15 is to be amended as follows:

There being no further business at hand a motion to adjourn was made by W. Abrahamson, supported by R. A. Petersen. All in favor - motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
The next meeting of the Hamlin Township Planning Commission will be held on June 4, 1997 at 7:30.
