The Monday, February
24, 1997 meeting of the Hamlin Township Zoning Board of Appeals was called
to order at 7:30 PM by Chairperson M. Kelly.
Roll Call:
Members Present: A. Casperson, M. Kelly, C. Miller, J. Thomas
Members Absent: D. Petersen
Others Present: S. Armstrong, Phil Wolf, Dr. and Mrs. Riemer
The first order of business concerned:
Property Number 53-007-295-002-00, described as Hamlet on Hamlin Lake
Site Condo Development, Unit 2 along with limited common element for boat
well and boat slip.
Dr. and Mrs. Riemer wish to construct a single family dwelling on a
waterfront lot, 39 feet high as established by normal grade. This exceeds
the 18 foot height limit allowed by Zoning Ordinance 34 by 21 feet. Dr.
Riemer further wishes to construct a garage 24 X 48 or 1152 sq.ft., exceeding
the 960 sq.ft. allowed by the Ordinance, by 192 sq.ft.
Correspondence: Three letters were received: Dr. Avidisian
was in favor; Richard Catt in favor; James Kelly, in favor of the Riemer's
requested variance.
Motion: Motioned to approve was made by A. Casperson seconded
by C Miller.
Reason: 1) due to the unusual lot characteristics; 2)
does not cause adverse effect on the surrounding area; 3) the 18' height
restriction to restrict blockage of view does not apply.
Vote: A. Casperson, YES ; M. Kelly, YES ; C. Miller, YES
; J. Thomas, NO - Motion Carried
The next meeting will be held upon notification. There being no further
business at hand, J. Thomas motioned to adjourn, supported by C.Miller.
All members were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
