The Monday August 11, 1997 meeting of the Hamlin Township Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order at 7:30 PM by A. Casperson.
Roll Call:
Members Present: A. Casperson, W. Karlsen, C. Miller, D. Petersen, J. Thomas
Members Absent:
Others Present: S. Armstrong, P. Barcelli

Minutes: A motion was made to accept the minutes of the July 7, 1997 meeting, by W. Karlsen supported by D. Petersen all in favor Motion Carried.

The first order of business concerned: Property # 53-007-027-087-00 , address 3415 N. Lakeshore Drive, described as: S 150 feet of S 370 feet of that part of government Lot 1, or NW ¼ which lies W off county highway along former right of way of L&N RR except south 75 feet Section 27 T19N R18W.

Mr. Patrick Barcelli wishes to construct a 17X20 yard building within 9 ½ ft. of his property line. The Ordinance requires a minimum side line setback of 12 feet. This violates section 5.02 of Hamlin Township Zoning Ordinance 34 by 2 ½ feet. The storage building is also within 18 inches of the Road Commission drain. Zoning Ordinance 34, Sec. 4.09 calls for a 10 foot setback from all easements and drainage ditches etc. Variance needed is 8 ½ feet.

Correspondence:
Mr. William Mercer, next door neighbor, wrote in support of Mr. Barcelli�s request. Mr. Carl Brogren, within 300�, verbally expressed his support of Mr. Barcelli�s request. A letter to Mr. Barcelli from Gary Dittmer, County Road Commission approving the project.
Motion: J. Thomas motioned to APPROVE the request in full, supported by B. Karlsen
Reason: Strict compliance would render a conformity unnessarily burdensome.
Vote: Casperson Yes; Karlsen Yes; Miller No; Petersen Yes; Thomas Yes Motion Carried.

The next meeting will be held upon notification. There being no further business at hand, D. Petersen motioned to adjourn, supported by C. Miller. All members were in favor. Motion Carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:48 PM EDT.
