Database,
type of document that makes it easy to organize data, sort data, and make mailing labels. A database helps make an office or any place that has a large amount of data more efficient.

Data files,
files that have all of the data for an executable application. You cannot open a data file, .dat. Executable programs use Data files. Later on, you will read more about this.

Date,
a command for DOS (Directory Operating System). This command is used for setting the internal date on your computer. Helpful for applications that show you what the date is. For example, 4/2/97.

Demo,
produced by companies to give examples of their programs. With the internet many companies and programmers are putting out either freeware, shareware, or demos of their programs. Testing an application before you buy it gives the buyer a better understanding of what you want to purchase when you go to buy new software for your computer. Instead of taking the store clerks word for it.

Dvorak,
type of keyboard not well known. The keys are set differently than the Qwerty. The Dvorak Keyboard was first designed to make your typing faster. This new keyboard was never really used because typists were already trained in the Qwerty.

Display,
the computer monitor. There are quite a few different types of displays. Some different types of IBM compatible monitors include EGA, CGA, VGA, and the best Super VGA.

Document,
created in a word processor. Documents are mostly just text, but can have pictures, charts, graphs, and many other things that can also be incorporated in them.

Dot matrix,
type of printer. This type of printer does not compare to any of the new technology printers.

Download,
saving a file from another computer to yours. Usually associated with the Internet. Downloading demos is most common on the internet. You can also download from BBS.
