C

Cache,
temporary file saving. This means in other words that something is saved for either a certain amount of time, until the folder has more hard drive space than available, or until the program closes. Most browsers and other applications have a cache.

CD-ROM,
reads or plays CDs. CD-ROMs come in many different speeds (speeds meaning how fast it can read the CD). The two most common are the two speed, 2X, and the four speed, 4X. With the new technology available today you can go as fast as 16X!

CGA,
type of IBM compatible monitor. There are many different IBM compatible monitor types that are far better.

Clip art,
graphical pictures for the computer usually incorporated into word processing documents. Many CDs or 31/2 floppy disks are available that contain clip art.

Compact Disc,
usually known as CD. CDs can hold large amounts of information, music, videos, and games or other applications. One advantage of a CD is that they are cheap to produce.

Computer,
device used to run applications. There are many different types of computers; some different types include Apple or Macintosh compatible computers and IBM compatible computers. The first computers, before the microprocessors were introduced, were almost the size of a good sized room. They did not have a screen. A printer printed out things for the user to see. Computer time on one of those computers was extraordinarily expensive and were too expensive to buy. Computers have grown from the size of a room to as small as a book.
